Attorneys think about their time in hours -- or, more often, in tenths of an hour. Did you know that one billable hour is, on average, just 1/20th of one percent of your annual time? Yet the value of this tiny percentage of your time can mean a lot to a nonprofit organization like Volunteer Lawyers Birmingham.

If you're an attorney, could you donate the value of one billable hour to VLB this year?

If you're a small law firm, could you donate the value of one billable hour for each of your attorneys?
What do your donations do?
Intake & Screening
We evaluate every potential case that comes to us through online or phone intake. This entails screening clients for income eligibility, determining if their legal matter is one we think we can help with, and assigning accepted clients to one of our programs.
Pro Bono Clinics
VLB hosts regular legal clinics throughout the year that allow clients to come to an easily-accessible location to receive one-time services. These events involve logistics such as locating venues; bringing supplies, computers, and printers to the site; and providing food and drinks during the clinic.
Community Outreach
We recognize that sometimes the best legal assistance we can offer is to help prevent a problem from arising in the first place. This is why VLB offers community outreach and education that helps people learn about their legal rights and responsibilities, as well as ways to avoid conflicts that could escalate into legal actions.
